Brattleboro Youth Wins National Fair Trade Art Contest! |
Congratulations to our Young Fair Trade Artists!
The theme for this May's World Fair Trade Day

was "Kids Need Fair Trade." So we asked kids across the US to submit
artwork expressing what Fair Trade means to them. It was a close
contest thanks to the hundreds of votes from supporters like you. In
the Grade 3-8 category, Isaac Gardea from El Paso, Texas is the lucky
winner. In the Grade 9-12 category, Kathleen Mackin from Brattleboro,
Vermont won. And Tucker Corry's entry was chosen as the artwork to be
printed on postcards to be used at Fair Trade events.

AYLLU Inc., is a 501c3 USA registered non-profit that specializes in Fair Trade product development and sales. It is dedicated to educating consumers about the importance of Fair Trade, and empowering them to actively make a difference in the lives of many in the world we all share. "Ayllu" is a Quechua word that means "community," and "Ayullumanta" is a Quechua phrase that means "from the community." Many of the producer groups we work with speak Quechua, a 5,000 year old Andean language. ALLYU MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of ALLYU, Inc., is two-fold: to increase culturally appropriate economic opportunities for indigenous producer groups in rural Bolivia, and to increase the awareness of the average New England resident of the importance of Fair Trade. ALLYU VISION STATEMENT
The vision of ALLYU, Inc., is to make Fair Trade, and its concomitant values and goals, matter in the daily lives of both indigenous producer groups in rural Bolivia, and ordinary New England residents.
